Karen Burniston | Texas, USA

Hello! I'm Karen Burniston and I have a passion for pop-ups! I've been a licensed designer for Sizzix since 2009, when we launched the first collection of pop-up dies. Prior to that, I had been traveling the globe teaching interactive techniques using templates. I designed those templates with CAD skills that I picked up in engineering school.

Another thing I picked up in engineering school? My husband, John! (See what I did there?) We live in Katy, Texas, with our boy/girl twin teenagers and two high-maintenance Puggles.

I've been a crafter all my life and after buying my first rubber stamp in college, I was hooked on paper crafts. Pop-ups were just a side hobby, but after incorporating them into classes and getting such a positive response, I just kept on teaching pop-ups until I found that I was only teaching pop-ups! A specialty! Teaching is something I love to do, and you can find out where I'll be teaching next by checking the calendar in this blog's sidebar. You can also keep up with my travels, tips, tutorials and adventures by visiting my blog. I also post how-to tutorials for assembling the pop-up dies on my YouTube channel.

I absolutely love seeing photos of my dies in action, so please feel free to e-mail me using the link on my blog.

Eileen Hull | Washington DC, USA

Hi there! Thanks for stopping by...

I grew up in a large family where there was always an art project in the works. Creative thinking was encouraged at a young age and for that I am eternally grateful.

Designing dies for Sizzix is a dream job for me because I love to create three dimensional projects. I found out that books, folders and boxes were easy to make from all of my leftover matboard but the problem was getting an accurate and consistent cut. So I approached Sizzix with the idea of making a die that could cut and score thicker material like matboard and chipboard. They added a unique scoring blade placed partway down inside the die. And so ScoreBoards™ dies came to be! If you haven’t tried one yet, please do. :-)

Matboard is the perfect surface for ink, stamps, paint and mists as well as being really sturdy so the projects you make will last. Fun stuff!

I live near Washington, DC with my husband, his 92 year old stepdad, and the youngest of our four kids. We lived the military life for 20 years and loved it.
