Adventure, Explore, Travel Altered Book

In January Sizzix unveiled tons of new products at the Craft and Hobby Association show in Anaheim, Ca.  Not only was our booth packed with amazing new products, but it was also full of project samples and demonstrations.

I had the pleasure of working in the Tim Holtz Alterations section of the booth.  It was fun watching show visitors ooh an agh over the samples there made with Tim's new dies.  One project that was looked at, photographed, and touched the most was this fabulous altered book by Debi Adams from the Sizzix Art Room.  I have to say, I couldn't stop looking at it either.  I loved how it captured so memories of a vacation into a single display piece.  How fun to be able to set this piece out and remember the memories of a great trip or occasion over and over again!

Fold all of the pages of a book in half and distress with ink. Decorate the front inside cover as desired. Die-cut shapes from cardstock and patterned papers and embellish with ink and pen. Emboss cardstock and patterned paper with embossing folders of your choice and highlight the raised designs with ink. Trim to size. Add photos and other embellishments. Adhere shapes to the pages near the back of the book if the back cover will be propped against an object when displayed; adhere shapes near the middle of the book if you plan on displaying the book with spine flat.

I hope you enjoyed taking a look at this project as much as I did and I hope that it inspires you to create something like it to celebrate a special occasion too!

Other Supplies: Book, Cardstock, Patterned Paper, Ink, Metal Embellishments, Photographs, Ribbon, Stickers, Tags, Tissue Tape, Twine, Wooden Game Pieces

You will find this project and 1000s of others like it in our die cutting project gallery at  You won't believe all of the inspiration you will find there!
