Springtime Gift Card Tag

Today our friend May Flaum is joining us with a fun spring themed Gift Card Tag project.

Welcome May!

While winter still has my neck of the woods in its cold clutches, it’s nice to dream about bright colors and warm spring days! Today I’m here to share with you a tag that can also double as a gift card holder with some of my most favorite dies!

How-to:

1. Die cut a flower, leaf, doily, butterfly, and a butterfly border from white cardstock. (See the specific dies below.)

2. Color the flower, leaf, and butterflies with Distress Ink. Add distress stickles to the butterflies. Set these aside while you prepare your tag.

3. Blend several colors of distress ink across your tag. Spritz with the tag with water to add some a bit of a speckled look. Dry the tag.

Optional: Make a cut across about 1 ½” from the bottom, leaving at least ¼” on either side so that the cut does not go all the way through. Then adhere (around edges only) a piece of cardstock to the back of the tag. This will create a pocket for a gift tag that is invisible from the front of your finished tag!

4. Assemble your card by adhering the butterfly edge even with the cut that you made for your gift card. Then trim and attach doily die, adhering only on the sides so that the pocket remains accessible at the top.

5. Add the word stickers, stitch a bit of ribbon below the butterfly border, and attach the pink butterfly at the bottom as well.

6. To finish the tag, add the flower, leaf, and a button at the top.

This tag would work as a gift topper, placed inside a book with a Barnes & Noble gift card, on an Easter basket, or any other celebration you might have. I love mixing, matching, and combining the dies that I have to create projects that I can share with loved ones.
