Hi everyone! Gretchen here and I’ve got a new tutorial for you today featuring Karen Burniston’s Winged Hearts Pop `n Cuts insert plus matching Heart & Wing Movers & Shapers die set.
With Valentines Day next month I thought I’d stick with the “love” theme for my tutorial this month. It’s definitely a nice change from all the red and green creations I did for the Christmas season.
To start your card, insert your PNC Winged Heart insert into your PNC Base Die, making sure the tick marks line up. Lay your cardstock on top of the die and run through your Big Shot machine and then fold the Pop `n Cut according to package directions. Even though this is a vertical card, there are still the same amount and types of folds. Remember, if you can fold one Pop `n Cut, you can fold them all.
For your front of your card, you’ll need to cut a strip of pink cardstock using the Mini Scallop & Pinking On the Edge die. The finished piece will be approximately 1/2” wide x 4-1/4” long.
Assemble the papers on the front of your card. On the right hand side, your green piece will be 3-1/2” x 4-1/4” wide (you can use your PNC Base Die to round the corners to match). The striped piece of patterned paper will be approximately 6” x 4-1/4”. Score the striped piece at about 2” from the right, fold and glue to your PNC base piece overlapping with the green piece slightly. This striped piece of paper will cover the openings in the card created by the PNC Winged Heart insert. Add your pink scallop strip plus a thin strip of blue where the seams of the two patterned papers meet and glue to the front of your card.
Use Eileen Hull’s Labels & Buttons Bigz Die to create a label for the front of your card. Stamp sentiment onto to label.
Cut two small hearts in different shades of pink using the inside heart from the Heart & Wing Movers & Shapers set. Your PNC Base Tray is perfect for this!
Assemble the hearts and label on your card front as shown in example above. Your card front is now complete.
For the inside of your card, cut a second Winged Heart using your PNC Winged Heart insert out of blue. After die cutting, cut the heart piece away from the extra cardstock as marked in the example. You need this piece to cover the main part of the heart inside the card.
Adhere the heart you cut down onto the heart inside of your card.
Use your Mover's & Shapers Heart & Wing Set in your PNC Base die and cut more pieces from coordinating cardstock and patterned paper to decorate your Winged Heart inside your card. Tip: For the wings, you can fold a piece of paper in half and lay on top of the die and cut once, this way if you’re using patterned, the pattern will line up the same way.
To finish of your card, cut two pieces of green patterned paper to 1-1/2” x 4-1/4”. Cut both again using the Mini Scallop & Pinking On the Edge die to create the borders (don’t forget to round your corners using the PNC Base Die) and glue them down to the inside of your card on the left and right side. Stamp sentiment and – wa la! - you’re done.
I always have so much fun making Valentine’s Day cards, I think I see a few more in my future!
