Gift Card Ornament

Happy Sunday! Eileen here to show you how to make a combination ornament and gift card folder using the ScoreBoard Mailable Frame and Gift Card Folder (shipping in January). Gift cards are so handy to give but somewhat impersonal. I always like to make some kind of handmade envelope or folder to make it more personal.  This ornament/folder would look pretty hanging from the tree, even after the gift card has been used.

die cutting
Die cut a sheet of cream matboard with the Mailable Frame die using a Big Shot or Vagabond die cutting machine

Center the frame inside the Lace Set Textured Impressions folder with the point of the flap on the fold.  Emboss the top part of the frame and flap.

Place a piece of glitter wrapping paper on top of the Frame die halfway down and die cut.  Apply spray adhesive to the back of the paper and adhere it to the bottom of the frame.

Ink and blend coordinating colors over the embossed area of the frame to bring out the embossed design.

Adhere buttons and silver tinsel garland to cover where the glitter paper meets the pattern of the folder.  Add mini rickrack around the base of the folder and tie a small bow.

Stamp frame inset sentiment on off-white paper using VersaMark ink. Emboss with clear powder.
Blend ink on top of stamp and rub off excess. Color design accents with Copic markers.

To cover the inside of the folder cut a piece of paper to 12" x 4 1/2".  Fold the paper in half.  Lay the paper on die, placing folded paper on the piece without the window cutout just shy of the fold. Run through Big Shot using with the frame die again. Distress sides of paper.

Stamp inner sentiment and mat with coordinating paper.

Cut a Gift Card Folder from cardstock and score folds on scoring board (this is a ScoreBoard die so if you used matboard, the scores would be done for you). Assemble and insert gift card. Write your message outside the card. (I didn't because I'm not sure who is getting this yet!)

Tie a piece of ribbon around the inside of the top fold and knot it at the top. Glue to inside middle.
Add two Velcro dots to flap of folder, then close into place. The other dot will stick right where it's supposed to.

Hang on the tree after you have signed and dated it!
A family photo would also fit perfectly inside the window. Great gifts for grandparents, other family members and friends. There's even room for a short Christmas letter or holiday party invitation inside. What would you make with this folder?
