Hey there crafty friends! Gretchen here bringing you a new tutorial featuring the Sizzix Bigz Evergreen Tree Pop-Up Die by Karen Burniston.
This cute tree adds just the right amount of fun to any project!
Start with a white card base that is 5-1/2” x 5-1/2”. To decorate the front, cut
another piece of white cardstock that is 4-1/2” x 5-1/2”. Use the Christmas Words & Dots Textured Impressions to create the
embossed look as shown in the example.
Cut a strip of red and white patterned paper that is 1” x 5-1/2” and glue down
to the left of your card front. Adhere your embossed piece towards the right of
the card overlapping the striped paper. Add a strip of red cardstock that is
1/4” x 5-1/2” next to the white embossed piece.
To finish the card front, die cut two holly leaves from green cardstock and six
berries from red cardstock using the Holly & Berry Leaves Framelits set. After die cutting, outline leaves and
berries and glue down to the lower left hand portion of your card.
For the inside, cut a 1-1/2” x 5-1/2” strip of striped paper and die cut the
edge using the Scallops On The Edge die. Glue down to the left side of your
open card. Trim a piece of patterned paper to fit into the right hand side of
your card.
Use your Bigz Evergreen Tree die to cut one tree out of patterned
paper.
After die cutting, fold your tree according to package directions and adhere into the inside
of your card. You will add adhesive on just the back folded edges, adding the
right side of the tree first to the card and then the left. In my example, the
back folded edge is the white part with trees of the patterned paper.
Almost done! Just to note, the card is not meant to fold flat once the tree has
been added. It opens a little more than 90 degrees and that helps give the tree
a nice pop-up appearance.
Next, use the Stacked Words: Christmas Sizzlits Strip to cut your sentiment
out twice, once using red cardstock and once in white. Cut the red “joy” apart
from the “to the world” and then glue the red “joy” on top of the white “joy.”
Glue down sentiment to the right hand side of your card.
To complete the inside of your card, cut two holly leaves from green
cardstock and six berries from red cardstock using the Holly & Berry Leaves Framelits set. Outline leaves and
berries and glue down to the upper left hand portion of your card.
Your whimsical Merry Christmas Evergreen tree card is complete! I think this
might be a new favorite card of mine. I adore the look of the white embossed
paper and the pop-up tree.
I can't wait to see what everyone does with the Evergreen Tree Die!
