Die Cutting Paper: Ho Ho Ho Christmas Embossing

Seems we've entered that season where where time just speeds by us until Christmas day arrives. I got to thinking that I wanted to create some holiday cards using one of my favorite embossing techniques and also thought that it would be the perfect technique to share on the blog today.

This technique results in an awesome glossy effect that compliments the plain cardstock. The opposite textures next to eachother are just beautiful.

First put some liquid Versamark ink on to a piece of wax paper or other non stick surface.

Next apply the Versamark to a brayer and apply to the embossing folder. I chose a folder with a text theme (#657059 BasicGrey Christmas & Thin Ice Textured Impressions).

Insert a piece of cardstock in to the embossing folder and run it through your Big Shot die cutting machine.

Remove the cardstock from the folder and sprinkle on Clear Ultra Thick Embossing Powder and shake off excess.

Use an embossing heat tool to melt the embossing powder. Apply heat from underside of cardstock so that the powder doesn't fly off. Make sure all areas are fully melted and you'll see how the debossed areas become glossy.

Attach the embossed cardstock to a card front and add details to your card like these tiny pinecones and my favorite Sizzix Holly Leaves (#656734 Flourish, Holly & Mistletoe).
