Die Cutting Classes: Pop-up Classes for The Collins Rep Group event

It's been quite busy in my craft room (and spilling out into the dining room and all the way to Gretchen's house) preparing class kits for The Collins Rep Group Fall Education event in Orlando this weekend. This education event is for retailers to learn techniques with the latest manufacturer releases and then take those projects back to their stores as samples and class ideas.

On Friday I will be co-teaching a workshop with Els van de Burgt (a recent guest designer on the Sizzix blog) the owner of Elizabeth Craft Designs, where we will combine fabulous ECD products, like Shimmer Sheetz, Peel-off stickers, Be Creative Tape and Microfine glitter, with brand new dies from my Hearth & Home collection, shipping this month to stores near you!

Els designed two projects for the workshop, which she shared recently on the ECD Facebook fan page,  and I designed two projects as well, so it will be a jam-packed 2.5 hours full of fun and shimmer!

I thought I would give everyone a look-see at what I designed. If your store owner is going to the Collins event, they can register for the workshop if there is space left.

First up, the Accordion Album project. This project combines three new Hearth & Home dies plus a new Snowflakes die from Basic Grey. The photos cannot do justice to the shimmery gorgeousness of the Shimmer Sheetz panels and the ECD microfine glitter sparkling up the new Evergreen Tree. The album is made quite sturdily from new Card Shoppe cardstock from Bazzill Basics - I highly recommend it for this die. The beautiful paper is from the new Bo Bunny Rejoice collection. Both Bazzill and Bo Bunny are attending the event as well, so retailers can one-stop-shop for the album ingredients with the assistance of their Collins rep.

Note! Don't forget to order the Frame Label die as a companion die to the Accordion Album. It is sized to cut paper to fit the outer frame and the inner panel just perfectly!

When Els showed me her first workshop project - a clever keychain made using my Heart & Wing Movers & Shapers die set, I suggested that I could design a Pop 'n Cuts card for presenting the keychain as a gift.

Steel-rule dies cut ECD Shimmer Sheetz beautifully! In fact, the flower on the front of this card was made using the same Heart Movers & Shapers die as for the keychain by folding a square several times (a technique I learned from the talented Debbie Farinella at the last CHA show) and then die cutting the heart so that it becomes 8 partial hearts connected together like a flower. What a nifty trick!

The new Frame Pop 'n Cuts Insert was the perfect choice to hold the keychain, and the addition of a square of silver Shimmer Sheetz to the back of the frame turns it into a display case. For this card I used some of the new Basics Patterned papers from Bazzill Basics - just perfect when you want an all-over pattern in one consistent color scheme. The clear stamp greeting is from Lawn Fawn, a new exhibitor at the Collins event and their stamps are to die with! (See what I did there?)

On Saturday morning bright and early, join me for another Sizzix class creating three pop-up holiday cards using dies from three different collections.

First up, a fun 6x6 pop-up card to present a gift card or show off a holiday photo. This card combines the new Raising Platform, Ornate Plate and Noel Sizzlits set from the Hearth & Home collection with a cute new bonus Tree from Basic Grey. Bo Bunny's Mistletoe paper combined with Bazzill Card Shoppe cardstock make the perfect backdrop for this interactive card.

The second card is a window card created from sturdy matboard and using the Pop 'n Cuts Circle Label as a platform to animate the Ornate Plate. The front of the card is decorated with the Noel Sizzlits set and the new Tim Holtz Stocking Stuffer die.

Finally we will make one of the new Pop 'n Cuts stand-up designs, using the Pop 'n Cuts Poinsettia Insert and the Noel Sizzlits set. Bazzill Basics "Believe" papers set the perfect backdrop for this surprisingly quick pop-up card. The new Fancy Frame die fits perfectly on the front of the card.

All attendees can also make a quick Evergreen Tree pop-up card by visiting my Make 'n Take table during the Sample Making Frenzy on Saturday night.

Retailers, I look forward to seeing you this weekend!

Happy Die Cutting,

Karen
