Song Bird Card

When I saw this die from the Tim Holtz Alterations line it was L-O-V-E at first sight! Combine it with the Tattered Flower Garland Sizzlits die and it's something to sing about!
Cut your cardstock 5 1/2" x 8 1/2".  Score and fold the cardstock in half to make a card. I used Kraft-Core No. 10.  When it is sanded the "Kraft-Core" shows off the embossed design.

Emboss your card using the Fancy and Floral Texture Fades Embossing Folder set. Position your card with only the front of the card in the folder.

Sand the embossed areas and the edges of your card.

I love how the Kraft-Core shows through after sanding it!

Ink the embossed areas and the edges with Vintage Photo Distress Ink on an Ink Blending tool.

Die cut Kraft-Core No. 21 using the Bird Branch Bigz die. Depending on which way you want your bird to face determines how you put your cardstock on the die.

Sand the bird branch. It will be easier if you do the sanding before you remove the cut branch shape out of the cardstock because there are less areas for the sanding block to catch on.

Ink the branch with Vintage Photo Distress ink and an Ink Blending tool.

Next up are the Tattered Flower Garland Sizzlits Decorative Strip die. Die cut just the small section of the flowers that you want. I used four little pieces of Kraft-Core No. 2 and then did my sanding. Don't forget to make some leaves from Kraft-Core #13.

Shape your flowers by rolling the petals back a little. Ink the edges with Vintage Photo Distress Ink on an Ink Blending Tool and add a small pearl to the center of each flower.

Die cut just the bird using colors No. 2 and No. 17. Sand and ink the edges as before. Trim the belly piece as shown.

To make the banner die cut Manila cardstock using the Tattered Banner Sizzlits Die. Stamp your message "sing your song" and ink the edges with Vintage Photo Distress Ink.

Adhere your branch and banner with pop-dots, flowers and leavers with glue dots and glue dot the singing bird.

Tie a bow around the top of the card with burlap cording or jute. Jump ring a Muse Token and your all set.

I love all the texture and dimension of this card, it makes my heart sing!

Find that special something that inspires you to be creative!

Enjoy your day!
Richele

  14. Richele, sorry for this late comment. But I have to tell you how this card struck my heart. The colors and the way everything is put together is like a song. I got this die and embossing folder. Already cut out some birds amd branches. I just get thrilled with just looking at them just like I do when I see your work. They make me happy!
