Here's a hint ...

You probably have what you need to make this project in your kitchen cabinet. Give up? Read on ...

Writing a blog every week requires me to always be ever vigilant for new and exciting craft techniques. So while wrapping leftovers after dinner the other day, I was noticing what cool material heavy-duty foil was ... Hmmm. I took it down to the craft lab and gave it a whirl. I think you will agree – it was an experiment with a good result. An added bonus is that the inside of the box looks almost better than the outside! Here's how:

You will need:

Instructions:

  1. Spray adhesive foil to piece of mat board. Placing the foil facing the die, roll through the Big Shot Machine.
  2. Take the Lid off the Box and place it in the Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. Place on the Multipurpose Platform with no tabs and roll through the Big Shot.
  3. Fold up Box and Lid and secure with rubber bands to keep Box shape. Apply lines of Zip Dry Glue to all corners of boxes. Let dry.
  4. If desired, run silver marker around edges to cover white mat board edges.
  5. Finished size is 2 1/2" square x 1/1/2" tall.

Do you know anyone celebrating their silver anniversary? It's the perfect box for a small gift – jewelry, key to a new car or house ... I can also see these set out on all the tables as wedding favor boxes. This box is very versatile and easy to put together, especially if you have a lot to assemble.

If you would like to see a demo of some of the new ScoreBoards dies from the Celebrations collection, tune in today, March 22 at noon EST to Cool 2 Craft. I will be creating a project or two, and later in the show you'll have a chance to win two of the not-yet-released dies plus a package of mat board. If you miss it, catch the recording – it may be accessed 24 hours after the show airs.

From my (shiny!) studio to yours,

  1. HE HE, THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY ONE DOING THE SILVER FOIL THING. I WENT ONE THING BETTER THOUGH. EVER THE CONSTANT 'GREEN' THINKER. WHEN I OPENED FREEZE DRIED POUCHES OF COFFEE, I REALIZED THAT THE PRECIOUS FOIL INSIDE COULD BE IMPRESSED OR EMBOSSED. SO SAVE THOSE PRECIOUS FOIL PIECES. TURN COFFEE BAG INSIDE OUT, CUT OUT 'PAGES' THAT YOU CAN USE, AND EMBOSS AWAY! COMES OUT GREAT. WITH THIS ECONOMY FOIL HAS BECOME VERY EXPENSIVE (AS WELL AS COFFEE) SO GET YOUR MONEY'S WORTH! USE BOTH COFFEE AND BAG!
